Top Sightseeing Spots in Charleston

I went to the College of Charleston during my freshman year so I got to explore many new places. It is voted the number one city in America for travel and I highly recommend visiting. Here are some of my favorite spots to check out, all within walking distance from downtown!

Top Sightseeing Spots in Charleston

#1 King Street

King Street is the most popular in Charleston and is known for its amazing shopping, restaurants, galleries, and bars. I have spent way too much time and money walking along King Street and it never disappoints. The southern charm really shines through with the different types of fashion, foods, and artwork. Make sure to check out the cute boutiques and grab a drink and a bite to eat while you explore. I can promise you won’t be leaving without a shopping bag in your hand!

#2 Rainbow Row

If you are looking for a picture-perfect spot then the rainbow row is the place to be. It is a well-known tourist attraction for the colorful pastel historic homes that are situated here. Get dressed up and have a fun little photoshoot with friends!

#3 Pineapple fountain

One of the first spots I went to visit was the iconic Pineapple Fountain because I saw photographs of it all over. The fountain is in the shape of a pineapple (hence the name) and it is a beautiful spot to hang out at. I always loved taking walks to the fountain because it is situated on the waterfront and it is a peaceful spot. You can also go through the fountain and get wet on a hot summer day!

#4 The Battery

The Battery is a landmark in Charleston and another most visited place on the peninsula. It is located on the harbor and is two miles long. It is the perfect spot to walk or work out during your visit. I always loved walking here because I got to see all of the historic mansions across the street while catching the breeze from the water.

#5 Downtown and Prison Ghost Tour

One of the best ways to learn about history, sightsee, and hear the haunted stories of Charleson is by booking a ghost tour. I did a handful of ghost tours during my time in Charleston and my favorite ones were the haunted jail and the walking tour downtown. This was hands down the scariest experience I had because of how real it was. I highly recommend this excursion for any group that visits… be prepared to be scared.
