How To Help People In Need: Gift During Holiday

As a kid, one of my favorite holiday memories was picking names off the Angel Tree and going shopping with my family. Now that I’m an adult, I like to keep that tradition going and give to center for people in need during the holidays.

No matter where you’re located, there are so many ways to give!

How To Help People In Need

Angel Trees

Angel Trees are a great center for people in need to give this holiday season because it takes the guesswork out of gifting. The Salvation Army puts Angel Trees in local Walmart stores.

You can go to this link and enter your zip code to find the store closest to you, which is also the drop-off location for your presents once they’re wrapped!

Other organizations like churches and schools also do their own Angel Trees for members of their community that are in need, so you can always find more opportunities there!

Food Banks

We all know how expensive groceries are nowadays, especially special items for the holidays. Local food banks are almost always accepting non-perishable donations like rice, pasta, and canned goods.

Around the holidays, some ask for more specialty items like turkeys, microwave meals, and desserts. Feeding America is the best finding center for people in need. You can find your local food bank by entering your zip code here, or you can even shop from the comfort of your own home through Amazon wishlist.

Charity Runs

Tons of people participate in Turkey Trots on the day of Thanksgiving, but there are also several events for the rest of the holiday season.

If running in the freezing December cold isn’t your idea of fun, check for virtual races like these through Gone for a Run. You can run virtual races wherever and whenever you’d like, even on a treadmill.

Toys for Tots

Toys for Tots is another notable organization for Christmas donating. Sponsored by the Marines, you can host a party, fundraise, or donate financially.

If you’re planning on hosting a Christmas party anyways, it’s super easy to turn it into a donation opportunity by registering online and asking your guests to bring a toy!

Brands That Give Back

One of the simplest ways to donate is simply through the things you’re buying! Hundreds of companies participate in giving back, either through a percentage of sales or by donating to specific charities for specific products.

Love your Melon has the cutest beanies to rep your college, zodiac sign, or just your favorite color, and they donate 50% of their profits to help with the fight against pediatric cancer.

Every purchase from skincare brand Tatcha helps fund their partner program that funds girl’s education in Asia and Africa.
